Waterstones, Gadget Shop, Faith, and Leading Edge are among the latest retailers to sign up for The Liberty in Romford, since the completion of Hammerson's£54 million refurbishment of the 1960s shopping centre.
Waterstones has taken 9,475 sq ft (880 sq m), Gadget Shop 1,335 sq ft (125 sq m), Faith 2,400 sq ft (225 sq m) and Leading Edge 2,370 sq ft (220 sq m). With several more deals in solicitors' hands the lettings programme at the 516,000 sq ft (48,935 sq m) centre is now complete.
Since its modernisation, The Liberty has attracted 27 retailers including H&M. The refurbishment has driven up rents by 10 per cent to a new high of£195 Zone A.
Hammerson director of UK Retail Asset Management Vanessa Forster said: 'The dramatic improvements to The Liberty's environment have had a very positive impact on existing traders, and new retailers are reporting trading levels well above expectations.'
