LloydsPharmacy

LloydsPharmacy is the second largest pharmacy chain in the UK. Since its inception in 1973, it has developed a strong niche as the UK’s largest community pharmacy operator.

LloydsPharmacy has a strong digital presence – through its ecommerce site and Online Doctor business – allowing customers access to routine healthcare where and when it suits them. This has underpinned the retailer’s role as a community pharmacist.

It has a strong portfolio of 1,500 shops and 17,000 employees. In 2016, LloydsPharmacy acquired all 281 of Sainsbury’s pharmacies for £125m, bolstering its portfolio and store network. A year later, however, it sold or closed down 190 shops, citing government cuts.

Its sister companies include the prestigious John Bell & Croyden and Betterlife, a specialist provider of independent living aids.
