The issues of pensions and workplace violence will take centre stage at shopworkers' union Usdaw's conference, which begins on Sunday.
TUC general secretary-elect Brendan Barber will lead a debate on the ongoing pensions crisis on the opening day. Usdaw's Freedom from Fear campaign, aimed at cutting violence and abuse in the retail workplace, will be the subject of another debate. Employment terms and conditions, health and safety and political matters will also be on the agenda.
The conference takes place at Blackpool's Winter Gardens and runs until April 30.
