The transformation of Woolwich town centre in southeast London took a step forward this week with London Development Agency appointing two architects, East and Sergison Bates, to develop plans for the regeneration of the area.
The scheme has high-level backing: London Mayor Ken Livingstone identified Woolwich as a priority area in his draft London Plan and the Deputy Prime Minister announced a Sustainable Communities Plan earmarking the area for development.
New retail facilities are a key part of the proposed mix of uses.
