Peacocks is testing a new in-store style in shops measuring more than 930 sq m and sees potential for approximately 50 such outlets.
At present there are six big stores, and the newest, which opened in Gloucester earlier this month, will provide a template, according to finance and property director Keith Bryant. The trial incorporates new lighting, merchandising and layout.
Peacocks opened a standalone homewares store in Hemel Hempstead last month, and Bryant said there is potential for 150 such outlets.
The retailer posted pre-tax profits up by 41 per cent to£23.1 million on sales 47 per cent ahead at£396.6 million.
