New staff will have on-the-job training to provide expert advice on technology

Around 1,500 roles are now available across the business, and 1,250 will be temporary roles based in-store to help customers over Black Friday and Christmas.

New staff will go through an induction programme alongside on-the-job training to provide expert advice on technology.

The retailer will also recruit nearly 200 permanent 7.5t HGV drivers across the UK and Ireland, and further roles are available at Currys’ customer service contact centres.

The in-store temporary roles will be available from October 5 to January 3. Last year, over 60% of these temporary colleagues were offered permanent roles.

Currys chief people, communications and sustainability officer Paula Coughlan said: “We’re delighted to be opening applications for more than 1,000 roles at Currys this Peak season.

“These colleagues will play a crucial role in delivering a fantastic Black Friday and Christmas for millions of our customers, and along the way, they’ll learn the vital skills only a career in retail can offer.

“We’re really proud of our record as an amazing place to work, with two-thirds of the temporary colleagues who joined us last peak season choosing to stay on permanently.”
