Supermarket giant Tesco is recruiting 28,500 temporary staff to help over the busy Christmas trading period.
The grocer said the temporary festive roles will be predominantly in Superstores and Extra stores for early morning, day or evening shifts.
Tesco Group people services director Ela Golab said: “We’re excited to be recruiting festive colleagues to help make it a season to remember for our customers.
“With the busy Christmas period ahead, we are looking for people who can bring warmth, enthusiasm, and a helpful service to every shopping trip.
“The jobs will range from serving customers and stocking shelves, to picking orders for home delivery.”
Retail Christmas recruitment season is now in full swing, with recruitment platform Indeed revealing that searches for festive roles in the UK were up 28% year on year for the month of October – the highest level it has seen since comparable data began in 2018.
Despite the number of festive job postings also increasing by double digits year on year, Indeed said “demand for festive roles is outpacing supply”.
