Morrisons has appointed former Asda online trading director Emma Pacey as its new trading director for general merchandise.

Pacey was at Asda for almost 20 years in various roles, including as senior director ecommerce transformation and senior director of retail operations.

A spokesperson for Morrisons said: “Emma is known for delivering market share gains, supplier-led innovation and customer-focused offers, particularly across general merchandise.

“She combines deep commercial know-how with a real passion for delivering for customers, and we’re excited to have her on board as we continue to build momentum across the business.”

Pacey’s appointment comes soon after another former Asda executive, Matt McLellan, made the same switch, joining Morrisons as group data and media director.

Before working for Asda, McLellan was group customer propositions director at Tesco.

Morrisons has also brought on board Tim Conder as its new commercial director for non-food and frozen.

He joined from Aldi, where he had been group buying director, having also previously worked for Tesco.

In April, Morrisons also snapped up former Lidl marketing boss Claire Farrant and former Aldi executive George Brown, who joined as its new group property director.
