Asda has announced a £10m refresh of over 180 of its in-store cafes across the UK.
The cafes will be upgraded to have a new look and feel, including digital ordering screens and table ordering service, alongside manned service tills.
The refresh programme will also include a new menu for the cafes, with the introduction of new dishes including mashed avocado on toast, katsu chicken curry, topped salad bowls, wraps and a new sharing range including nachos and loaded fries.
The grocer’s pizza range will also be introduced into the new café menus, with customers able to choose individual slices or a full pizza.
The retailer also said the refreshed cafes will bring a “more relaxed coffee shop vibe”, with new additions to both hot and iced coffee and drinks menus.
Asda said its Kids Eat for £1 café meal deals will remain available post-upgrade.
The grocer’s vice president of commercial food, Ian McEvans said: “Cafés are an important part of the shopping experience for many of our customers, and this significant investment allows us to bring a new look and feel, as well making improvements to the service and a refresh of the menu.
“We have continued to demonstrate our commitment to our cafés over the years with popular deals like the Winter Warmer and Kids Eat for £1 meal deals, and this investment marks another exciting milestone moment for us on our journey and underpins our continued commitment to ensuring Asda is set up for long term success at the heart of communities.”
