Morrisons has poached a new group marketing director from BP.

Morrisons has named Claire Farrant as its new group marketing director, who joins the role from BP where she was vice president of mobility and convenience across Europe.

Prior to her time at BP, Farrant was also the marketing director at Lidl UK for eight years from 2015 to 2023 and she has also worked at Tesco and Woolworths during her career.

Morrisons announced the news on LinkedIn and said that she brings “a brilliant mix of experience” to the busines across food retail, digital, loyalty and brand strategy.

The retailer said Farrant is known for “building brilliant teams” and “leading through transformation”, something she brings to the grocery giant.

Morrisons added that the retailer is “looking forward to the energy, experience and fresh thinking she’ll bring” as the business continues on its growth trajectory.

Morrisons said in a social media post: “From launching ecommerce platforms such as Tesco direct and Lidl UK’s digital-only loyalty programme Lidl Plus; she’s delivered stand-out results by staying close to customers and the business.”

Farrant said of her appointment: “The best is yet to come and it starts here.”
