Aldi has begun its Christmas recruitment drive, hoping to take on thousands of store workers over the festive period this year.

The retailer aims to recruit more than 4,500 shop floor workers, managers and cleaners over Christmas and New Year.
Aldi said the new recruits were part of its continued growth plans, with the retailer aiming to open one store a week before the end of the year.
Pay for store assistants starts at £13.02 per hour nationally, and £14.35 within the M25 – making Aldi the UK’s highest-paying supermarket.
Aldi also says it is the only UK supermarket to offer paid breaks to all colleagues, worth over £1,425 a year for the average store colleague, according to the retailer.
Aldi UK recruitment director Kelly Stokes said: “At Aldi, our goal is to make high-quality, affordable food accessible to everyone – and at Christmas, demand for that always increases. That’s why we’re bringing more colleagues into our stores, ensuring we continue to deliver the very best experience for our shoppers.
“Our people are at the heart of our success, and once again we’ll be closing all our stores on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day. It’s important to us that our colleagues have the chance to enjoy a well-deserved break and spend valuable time with their loved ones.”
