Discounter Aldi has announced plans to build one new store per week on average until the end of the year, including new locations in Fulham Broadway and Shoreditch.

Aldi plan to build at least 11 new locations by the end of 2025.

The announcement comes after the retailer unveiled £650m worth of investment into Aldi’s store opening and refurbishment programme made at the beginning of the year, which will fund at least 11 new locations and 35 refurbishments of current stores across the UK by the end of 2025.

In June, Aldi announced 1000 new in-store roles, and the opening and refurbishment programme will create 40 new jobs in each new location as Aldi ramp up their store openings.

Aldi UK managing director of national real estate Jonathan Neale said: “At Aldi, our goal is to make sure people across the UK have access to high-quality food, and opening new stores is key to making that happen.”

“We’re now opening an average of one new store a week for the rest of 2025, showing just how ambitious our plans are to build a store network that will help us reach millions of new customers. But it’s not just about the openings – it’s also about making sure we have the best-paid teams in place to run them.”

The German retailer currently offers the highest wage for store assistants across the UK, with staff set to earn £14.33 per hour inside the M25 and £13 nationally from September 2025.

Each new store will offer access to Aldi’s renowned low prices and exclusive specialbuys to its rapidly growing customer base, as Aldi achieved a 10.9% market share at the end of June, cementing their position as the UK’s fourth-largest supermarket retailer, according to Worldpanel (formerly Kantar).
