Discount supermarket giant Aldi has announced that it will be giving its staff another pay rise from March, as it “extends [its] market-leading pay rates”.

From March 1, 2026, Aldi said it would be increasing starting pay for store assistants to £13.35 an hour nationally and £14.71 inside the M25.

Pay rates increase to £14.30 per hour and £15.03 within the M25, based on a staff member’s length of service.

Aldi is also the only supermarket that offers staff paid breaks, which it says is worth up to £1,470 a year to store staff.

The retailer also said it was enhancing its maternity pay offer, extending full pay to 26 weeks for staff.

The latest pay rise represents a further £36m investment in pay and benefits from the discount supermarket giant since the beginning of 2026.

Aldi chief executive Giles Hurley said: “Our colleagues are at the heart of everything we do. Their hard work and dedication are what allow us to offer customers the quality, value and service they expect from Aldi. That’s why we’re making such a significant investment in our promise to never be beaten on pay for our colleagues.”
