Aldi has recorded bumper Christmas trading as shoppers stocked up on premium own-label during the festive season.

The retailer has scored its most successful festive trading season to date after sales rocketed to £1.65bn in the four-week run-up to Christmas, a rise of 3% (year on year).
Consumer spend stood at £500m in the week leading up to Christmas, a rise of more than 5% compared with the same period in 2024.
Price was the top priority for shoppers seeking ways to celebrate on a budget, the discounter claimed.
More than 57 million transactions were handled in the four-weeks to Christmas Eve – the highest ever number for the retailer – while its busiest trading day was December 22.
Demand for Aldi’s Specially Selected premium own-label range increased by over 12% – its Ultimate Wagyu Fat Roast Potatoes, Double Wrapped Pigs in Blankets, and White Chocolate Ganache Pinecones were festive lines that proved particularly popular, according to Aldi.
The discounter also shifted more than 5.5 million bottles of sparkling wine over the Christmas period and saw strong demand for British-grown produce with 56 million potatoes, 37 million carrots, and half a million turkeys sold.
“This Christmas proved once again that a great quality Christmas can still be affordable,” said Aldi UK and Ireland chief executive Giles Hurley.
“We’re grateful that more people than ever chose Aldi for their Christmas shop and trusted us to deliver both quality and value during what remains a challenging time for many. I’m immensely proud of our amazing colleagues who, once again, went above and beyond to deliver a wonderful Christmas for our customers.”
