Pets at Home has rebranded its promotions to “Pets Club Pricing” and has plans to move to a member-only pricing scheme, Retail Week can reveal.

Pets at Home has today unveiled ‘Pets Club Pricing’, to align with its loyalty scheme, but deals will initially be available to all shoppers, regardless of membership.

The petcare retailer has initiated the first of a two-stage change to its promotions, with hopes to transition to member-only pricing towards the end of the year.

The retailer has plans to move to a member-only pricing scheme

The retailer said that the new approach would allow it to offer shoppers a higher level of personalisation and savings, enabled by an improved use of data.

Pets at Home chief customer officer Kathryn Imrie said: “At Pets, we’ve been rewarding our Club members for over 10 years.

“Pets Club helps customers with everything from specialist advice and guidance on navigating important milestones, to reminders that it’s time to stock up on favourite items, as well as nose-to-tail vet checks”.

“Pets Club Pricing is the next, exciting, step in our customer proposition. We’re taking the value customers know and love from us at Pets and combining it with the personalisation our Pets Club already offers and that 8.2 million people are already benefitting from”.

Last week, the retailer recorded a rise in full-year profits after a period of “profound transformation” and driven by its vets business, while its retail arm took a hit.

The retailer reported a rise in statutory revenue of 0.1% to £1.48bn in the year to March 27, but pre-tax profit rose 14.1% to £120.6m. At an underlying level, pre-tax profit inched up 0.7% to £133m.

Consumer revenue at the vet business was up 13% to £655.1m, generating underlying pre-tax profit of £75.9m – a 23.3% increase. The retail arm, however, suffered a revenue decline of 1.8% to £1.3bn and profits slid 16.6% to £72.9m.

Pets at Home chief executive Lyssa McGowan said: “The past two years have seen a profound transformation at Pets at Home. We have moved from a business with a strong presence in pet retail and vets, to a true pet care platform.”
