Pinterest has hired a new vice president of international as it builds momentum outside of North America.

Greg Owens will join the group on May 11 and will report to Pinterest’s chief business officer, Lee Brown, who also joined earlier this year.
Owens’ appointment is a “strategic move” to explore the platform’s international revenue potential, and he will be responsible for driving expansion across Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Latin America and Asia-Pacific.
The group said it’s part of a “wider focus on international growth momentum”, as its latest results show European and the rest of the world markets saw year-on-year revenue growth of 27% and 59%, respectively.
International markets now make up 25% of Pinterest’s revenue, highlighting the growth opportunity.
Owens also has over 20 years of expertise in the advertising industry and spent a decade at X, formerly Twitter.
Pinterest chief business officer Lee Brown said: “Over the past several quarters, our international business has proven that Pinterest’s value proposition resonates far beyond the US market.
“To truly unlock this growth, we need world-class leadership, and Greg’s combination of commercial rigor and international operating experience is exactly what we need for this next chapter.”
Owens added: “Pinterest is continuing to establish itself as a leading visual search and discovery platform, particularly for a new generation of users. What energises me most about this role is the opportunity to scale the platform’s monetisation across global markets while helping millions of people find inspiration and take action.
“I look forward to working with Lee and the entire team to deepen our relationships with international partners and unlock the platform’s full potential for brands worldwide.”
