Online retailer The Hut’s sales jumped 70% for the year to December 31.

The etailer, which operates sites including Zavvi, grew its core entertainment category 45% while non-entertainment soared 600% year-on-year.

Over 80% of the group’s sales were generated across its own websites, with the additional revenue coming from delivering services to retail partners including Tesco, Asda, Argos and WH Smith.

The Hut grew its customer database to 6 million last year from 2 million in 2009. It launched 6 new product sites, including, and and acquired 3 new sites including gift business The online retailer also launched Zavvi sites in Spain and Holland.
