Why Primark doubling the price of its flip flops matters more than you think

Primark released its collection of rainbow coloured flip flops a few weeks ago, but it wasn’t just the bold prints that stopped consumers in their tracks. The summer staple had become subject to the fashion retailer’s latest round of price increases, rocketing from 90p to £2 a pair.

The cost of flip flops may not seem like the most earth-shattering of changes, but the 120% or £1.10 increase reflects a cultural shift happening at one of the country’s biggest low-price retailers.
