Klarna’s in-app shopping lens, shoppable videos and in-store scanning are among the latest additions to its AI-powered features

Klarna’s new flagship feature is the in-app shopping lens which visually identifies over 10 million items and matches these with over 50 million store offers on Klarna’s search and compare tool.

It helps shoppers learn more and compare prices, retailers and reviews in an instant. Shopping lens is available in the UK, US, Germany, Sweden, Denmark and Norway.

This move builds on the group’s previous AI applications to provide a discovery shopping feed that recommends products based on personal interests.

The feed is hot on the heels of Klarna’s global roll-out of shoppable videos, allowing consumers to explore unboxing, tutorials, reviews and product drops from brand and creator videos.

Another new features includes in-store scanning of 10 million product barcodes for customer reviews, availability checks and price comparisons.

Klarna chief executive and co-founder Sebastian Siemiatkowski said: “Klarna is the smarter choice, whether you’re looking for shopping inspiration, personalised recommendations, or finding the best price.

“Just like the internet gave everyone access to information, AI gives everyone access to intelligence, context and personalisation.

“At Klarna, we’re using this to bridge the gap between the physical and digital world, connecting how humans get inspired with how computers search. I’m super proud that Klarna is leading this revolution in retail.”

Klarna is also announcing a further 10 highly-anticipated product updates in response to consumer feedback.

These include a new cashback program, sign-in with Klarna, purchase protection, gift card store, sustainability search filters and a conscious shopping dashboard.
