Health and beauty retailer Superdrug is embarking on a Christmas recruitment drive for sales adviser roles in its UK stores, Retail Week can reveal.
A spokesperson for the retailer said it will have over 1,000 roles available between October and the beginning of January.
Some contracts will start from this month, and Superdrug will still be hiring up to mid-November with those contracts expected to last six to eight weeks over the all-important festive period.
Temporary Christmas roles are available in store, but the spokesperson added that the group will also recruit for other roles in management, healthcare, beauty services, and at Superdrug head office.
The news arrives after John Lewis launched its biggest-ever Christmas recruitment drive earlier this month.
It plans to recruit 13,7000 seasonal roles including 11,500 sales assistant roles and 2,200 for distribution centre and supply chain jobs.
Superdrug saw its best-ever Christmas in 2024 as gift sets and hair care drove sales. Like-for-like sales rose by 5.1% in the six weeks to January 4 versus the same period the year before, while online sales grew 21%.
