Deliveroo has shut down press speculation about its chief executive and founder Will Shu who was reported to potentially step down from his role as early as this year.

It had been reported that Shu could step down as soon as this autumn in a scenario discussed by the company’s board, according to Sky News.
The publication added that Shu was contemplating stepping back and handing over the reins to a new chief executive. It was understood that Deliveroo’s chief business officer Carlo Mocci could be a leading internal candidate, but sources said no decisions on a replacement had been confirmed.
Another source told Sky News that Deliveroo did not plan to make a public announcement about leadership changes for a while, but the company has insisted there are no plans for Shu to exit his role as chief executive.
A Deliveroo spokesperson said: “In response to rumours in the media, the company confirms that there are no plans for Will to step down.
“Will remains relentlessly focused on the long-term future of Deliveroo and delivering for consumers, merchants and riders.”
Shu set up Deliveroo in 2013, and it has since transformed beyond a takeaway platform to become a delivery service for groceries, tools and accessories.
It has partnered with an array of food-to-go restaurants, as well as retailers such as Sainsbury’s, Waitrose, B&Q, The Perfume Shop, and Screwfix.
