Footwear specialist Clarks is set to launch its own digital marketplace next year as it looks to diversify its offering beyond footwear, Retail Week can reveal.
The new online platform, called âClarks Marketplaceâ, will launch in early 2026 and bring together multiple brands under one âroofâ, across different categories including apparel, outdoor wear, accessories, kids and baby products, as well as home and gifting.
The retailer has confirmed that a number of brands have already signed up to the launch, including: Hunter, Frugi, Antler Luggage, Tinc, Apatchy London, Mini Cuddles, Toby Tiger, Celtic & Co, Turtle Doves and Kettlewell Colours.
The move is the latest strategic step taken by Clarks to expand its core offering away from footwear.
Earlier this year, the brand launched its first Clarks-branded school uniform clothing range online and within selected retail stores, ahead of the back-to-school rush. The retailer also launched an expanded range of adult and kids accessories, including school bags, wallets, purses and bags.
A source close to the business said that Clarks is also working on the launch of its own storefront on TikTok Shop to reach a younger demographic of customers.
Clarks president for UK and Europe Joe Ulloa told Retail Week: âThis is an exciting step in Clarksâ growth journey. Weâre committed to putting consumers first, and by partnering with like-minded brands that share our values of quality and value, we can deliver an enhanced shopping experience that reflects what todayâs customers are looking for.â
The 200-year-old footwear retailer has struggled in recent times. For the full year to December 31, 2024, Clarks reported a pre-tax loss of ÂŁ39.2m, down from a pre-tax loss of ÂŁ39.8m in the previous 12 months, according to financial filings on Companies House.
Group revenue fell from ÂŁ994.5m to ÂŁ901.3m during the year, while gross profit was down from ÂŁ481.1m to ÂŁ432m.
Clarks noted at the time both âinternal and externalâ challenges facing the heritage retailer, and described 2024 as a âyear of transitionâ for the business.
