The former managing director at footwear retailer Clarks has joined the top team at sports giant Pentland Brands.

Former Clarks MD Bob Neville has joined Pentland Brands as its new global head of retail, Retail Week can confirm.

Neville joined Pentland Brands last month, following his departure from Clarks in the summer last year.

Neville will oversee the group’s retail strategy in his new role, looking after Pentland’s raft of brands including the likes of Speedo, Berghaus, Kickers and Ellesse among others.

Neville brings experience from across the sportswear and apparel industries to Pentland, having previously worked at the likes of Adidas, New Balance and Under Armour prior to his time at Clarks.

The news comes after Neville’s exit from Clarks alongside other departures, including CEO Jonathan Ram and chief product officer Victoria Jones.

A majority shareholder in JD Sports, Pentland Brands products are available in more than 190 markets via its companies, licensees and distributors.

In its most recent trading update for the 2023 financial year, pre-tax profits for the group were up from £1.6m to £2.6m however some of its individual brands such as Berghaus reported a loss.
