Some 63% of shoppers believe their phones will replace physical credit or debit cards as their main method of payment in five years’ time.
These findings – from a study of 2,500 consumers for Worldpay’s 2018 Consumer Behaviour and Payments Report – reveal the need for retailers to create a truly omnichannel experience.
The research also shows the same number of consumers (63%) feel checkout-free stores would make a shop visit more engaging or desirable.
The report uncovers the motivations behind UK consumers’ shopping and buying behaviour, showing how digitalisation can benefit the in-store experience for even the most traditional retailers.
