Marks & Spencer has brought back its click-and-collect service after it was paused following the cyberattack that struck the company in April.
The retailer halted online ordering through its website and mobile application on April 25 after experiencing disruptions during the Easter weekend, which caused contactless payment systems and click-and-collect services to fail in physical stores.
Although M&S has progressively restored online shopping across major categories such as fashion, homeware and beauty products, the click-and-collect option has been unavailable until now.
The company has not offered a public explanation for the extended delay in restoring this service. However, click-and-collect operations require seamless coordination between online shopping platforms, stock management systems, payment processing and store operations, all of which were significantly impacted by the attack.
The ransomware incident, reportedly carried out by the hacker collective DragonForce, compromised customer information and caused store shelves to empty as inventory systems were shut down to limit additional harm.
