Currys is rolling out a new crime reporting tool across all of its UK and Ireland stores in a bid to increase store safety.

Following a successful 12-week trial across two different regions, the tool identified 10 repeat offenders and ended up conducting three arrests.

The new tool using Auror’s software also prevented stock loss and saved over £20,000 worth of product, which helped steer the decision for Currys to continue with a full rollout.

The electricals retailer also said there has been a 58% reduction in reported aggressive thefts compared to the year before after announcing its largest annual investment in store safety measures.

Currys is leveraging its partnership with Auror to help deliver tangible results. The tool helps stores easily record information about crime and perpetrators, which are then matched and connected with offences nationwide.

This results in colleagues being better informed about current threats, while law enforcement has more detailed information to keep building cases.

Staff are encouraged to include a police or crime reference number when logging reports and provide detailed descriptions and images to enhance intelligence linking and pattern identification.

Currys chief operating officer Lindsay Haselhurst said: “The rollout of the Auror platform across all our UK and Ireland stores marks another important step in our commitment to making our stores a safer place to work and shop.

“This technology has already helped us identify repeat offenders, prevent stock loss, and support police investigations more effectively. By transforming how we capture and share intelligence, we’re building a smarter, faster, and more unified approach to tackling retail crime.”
