HMV’s administrator has made a further 60 redundancies at head office, bringing the total number of job cuts at the struggling entertainment retailer to 1,180.

The new tranche of job losses follows the 66 store closures and 930 store jobs losses revealed yesterday.

Administrator Deloitte said the latest redundancies were necessary as a result of the reduced support needed for the smaller store portfolio.

Jobs have been lost across the head office network at Eastcastle Street in London, Marlow and Solihull.

Administrator Nick Edwards said: “This has been a difficult decision, but a necessary one in restructuring the business. We would like to express our gratitude to staff for their continued support during the administration.”

The 60 redundancies follow 190 redundancies made across head office and the distribution nextwork last month.
