Tile Studios set for 50-store roll-out

Topps Tiles has identified 50 stores for its premium shop-in-shop Tile Studios, after success in a 19-store trial.

Chief executive Nick Ounstead said the premium tile-ordering service is performing well. A Tile Studio takes up 35 sq m of space in a Topps Tile store, and offers upmarket materials such as limestone.

Ounstead said: 'We want to appeal across the market. It's like Majestic Wine. Some people want a£3 bottle of wine and others want a£50 bottle.'

Topps Tiles this week announced group turnover up 18 per cent to£88.9 million for the 10 months to March 29. Profit before-tax was up 41 per cent to£12.5 million.
