The Range has opened the doors to the first of its “many” superstores while debuting “garden centres by Homebase”.

The home, garden and leisure retailer welcomed visitors to its new superstore in Christchurch, Bournemouth, a former Homebase store, showcasing The Range of Homebase garden products since it acquired the brand name, intellectual property and 70 stores in November.
The Garden Centres by Homebase offers outdoor plants, gardening tools and essential supplies for novice and seasonal gardeners to cement itself as a one-stop shop for all things home and garden.
Councillor Paul Alan Hilliard was on hand to cut the ribbon, and the first customer received a prize worth £150. The subsequent 50 shoppers took home exclusive goodie bags filled with 20 of The Range’s most popular products.

The Christchurch store features a free click-and-collect service for customers to shop online or pick up purchases in-store within 60 minutes.
Two other superstore openings took place on January 17, as Pollokshaws in Glasgow and Kings Heath in Birmingham opened in former Homebase stores.
The brand aims to open 10 new superstores each month of 2025, and stores in Newton Abbot, Felixstowe and Blyth are planned to open at the end of January.
Overall, The Range also wants to transform up to 70 former Homebase stores and create up to 1,600 jobs, while keeping staff on board from the locations it bought.
CDS Superstores chief executive, trading as The Range, Wilko and Homebase Alex Simpkin said: “We’re thrilled to open our doors in Christchurch, Birmingham and Glasgow today, and introduce our customers to the new The Range superstore experience.
“The exciting addition of the ‘Garden Centre by Homebase’ to this format continues to represent our ongoing commitment to providing everything from homeware to outdoor living under one roof.
“We’re committed to retaining Homebase’s heritage while introducing the broader scope of products that our customers expect from The Range.
“The team has worked incredibly hard to get these stores up and running for our existing and new visitors to enjoy. We look forward to welcoming shoppers from across the region to explore all that we have to offer.”
