The Range owner CDS Superstores has confirmed the next wave of openings for its new superstores, following its acquisition of Homebase.

The parent company of Wilko and The Range said it would be opening new formats in former Homebase locations in Newton Abbot, Felixstowe and Blyth.

This follows the first set of former Homebase stores in Pollokshaws, Glasgow; Christchurch, Bournemouth; and Kings Heath, Birmingham, which are set to reopen as new The Range stores on January 24.

CDS Superstores said it plans to roll out up to 10 new superstores a month in 2025 with the goal being to reformat all 70 of the former Homebase stores it bought last year.

The Range said it had prioritised “retaining and transferring team members from the acquired Homebase locations, ensuring continuity of employment for local communities”.

Group chief executive Alex Simpkin said: “We’re fully committed to retaining the best of Homebase’s heritage while introducing the broader product range and value that customers expect from us as The Range.

“While those Homebase stores acquired by CDS will continue to trade as they are during the transition period, we’re focused on ensuring a seamless transfer of these locations into our new store format, with six launches now confirmed for January 2025 already.

“We’re also eager to help consumers nationwide by investing in the Homebase brand with the relaunch of homebase.co.uk, and expect to have this platform live to support families in all of their home improvement endeavours very soon.”
