Sales at the destination were up 52% year on year in December, while footfall was up 30%, marking the shopping centre’s busiest month of the year.

Battersea Power Station also posted a 33% increase in fashion sales during December following a string of retailers opening stores at the site last year including Jigsaw, Massimo Dutti and Scamp & Dude.

Battersea Power Station recorded a total of 11.2 million visitors for the full year and noted a 25% increase in visitors in the evenings during the second half of the year, which it attributed to the opening of 10 new restaurants, bars and leisure experiences including Arcade Food Hall, Bounce Ping Pong and Searcys Champagne Bar.

It also hailed the success of its pop-up stores during the year as it continued to establish itself as “one of London’s most experiential destinations”.

Battersea Power Station Development Company chief executive Simon Murphy said: “The strong footfall over the Christmas period is further testament to the unique and constantly evolving offering at Battersea Power Station and provides a fitting conclusion to a successful 2023.

“The unique mix of shops, bars, restaurants, leisure venues and engaging cultural activities have attracted groups of all ages, while the homes and offices within and around the power station bring a continuous buzz to the estate.

“It has been amazing to witness the Battersea Power Station estate transform into a thriving riverside destination that welcomes thousands of visitors a day and to have seen our shareholder’s vision for this once derelict area become a reality.”
