Depots set to close
Morrisons has confirmed 1,600 job losses, after a decision to close two depots.

The sites, at Aylesford and Bristol, have been considered surplus to requirements, following Morrisons'£3 billion acquisition of Safeway in March 2004.

A Morrisons statement said: 'We are aiming to minimise redundancies as far as possible and will be talking about alternative roles within Morrisons. Outplacement support will be available and we will be doing all we can to help equip people for future employment.'

A date of closure is yet to be announced for the depots.
