Boots is expanding its own-brand range of at-home testing kits for customers to get a better understanding of their health.

The high street chain has launched nine new at-home kits which work by using DNA or blood to test a variety of health concerns. This included hormone imbalances, high cholesterol, food intolerances, weight management and vitamin deficiencies.
The at-home tests do not require customers to see a GP, and the expansion of the kits arrived after research showed that 68% of UK adults now prioritise preventative healthcare over treatment once symptoms appear.
Tests are powered by diagnostics company MyHealthChecked, and customers use the test kits to draw a sample and post it to a MyHealthChecked’s lab for analysis. Kits are available at certain Boots stores and through the website.
Test results will then be emailed to customers with advice from doctors and nutritional experts in a private online health dashboard.
Boots customers can also add their test results into the “Patients Know Best” personal health record platform for their results to be accessible to them and their GP through the NHS app.
Boots director of healthcare Jamie Kerruish said: “We’re seeing huge behavioural shifts from customers when it comes to preventative healthcare and we want to support our customers and patients to get a full picture of their health so they can make informed decisions, with the aim of living healthier for longer.
“Boots is well-placed to support patients to take action on their results, with our pharmacy team members able to provide healthcare advice and recommend products and services at Boots or refer on to a GP if needed.
“The ability for patients, GPs and other healthcare providers to access the tests results via the NHS App supports our vision to support the NHS and its 10-Year Plan, which is focused on moving healthcare provision from prevention to cure, from hospitals to the community and from analogue to digital.”
