Sainsbury’s is launching a new graduate programme, which includes a focus on developing skills in artificial intelligence.
The supermarket giant said its FutureMaker scheme had been designed following “extensive research” into the future needs of the business.
The two-year programme, available to nearly 50 graduates, will be split into three eight-month rotations within a chosen store support centre specialism.
It aims to develop participants’ skills in digital and AI, data and analytics, change and transformation, as well as business decision making.
Graduates will then be able to apply for relevant roles within the business once they’ve completed the scheme, such as in buying and commercial operations, data science and analytics, as well as property and procurement and product and innovation.
Applications for the FutureMaker graduate programme open on Friday (January 9).
A Sainsbury’s spokesperson said: “As a proud people-first business, our colleagues are at the heart of everything we do.
“We’re committed to investing in early careers and have spent time identifying the skills our future leaders will need to help us build a sustainable retail talent pipeline.
“By opening accessible pathways for graduates, we’re investing in both our business growth and a more inclusive workforce, ensuring our teams reflect the diversity of the communities we serve.”
