Morrisons had previously slashed prices on 2,500 products in January

Items from its Savers value range, fresh Market Street products, and branded lines will see price cuts as part of the supermarket’s commitment to value.

The new round of cuts follows 2,500 price slashes in January. This latest round is more focused on its fresh Market Street products, such as its baby potatoes and baby plum tomatoes.

Some of the grocer’s value-led Savers products are also being cut; 520g of white fish fillets have been reduced from £3 to £2.33, for example.

Its branded lines, such as two-packs of Birds Eye chicken quarter pounders, have been reduced from £3 to £2. Three-packs of John West Tuna Steak Pots were at £5, now at £3.50, and a six-pack of Magnums has been slashed by 20% to £4.75.

Morrisons’ pricing and customer director Alex Paver said: “We know consumer confidence remains low, and for many of our customers, managing household budgets is a real concern.

“That’s why we’ve focused on lowering the price on everyday essentials and family favourites that we know our customers buy week in, week out. By cutting prices across thousands of key products, we’re helping customers keep the cost of the weekly shop down.

“This reflects our continued commitment to helping customers spend less, while enjoying the quality Morrisons is known for.”
