Asda has launched a partnership with Deliveroo for on-demand grocery deliveries with the goal to offer delivery from 300 stores by the end of the year.

The grocer said it would begin the partnership at 15 stores this month, with customers in Wakefield, Leeds and Manchester being among the first to be able to order Asda products through the Deliveroo app.

Asda said it would aim to have the service available from 300 stores across the UK by the end of the year and that Deliveroo customers would be able to choose from “a range of everyday products that have been price-matched to offer the best possible value”.

Teatime is the most popular time for Deliveroo customers to place their grocery orders, with a top-up shop and meal-building products among the items ordered most often, Asda said.

Simon Gregg, senior vice-president of ecommerce at Asda, added: “We want to create more opportunities to conveniently shop for favourite Asda products and offer the broadest range of delivery options of any grocer, giving customers the flexibility to choose how and when they shop with us.

“Our partnership with Deliveroo will extend this further as Asda customers across the UK will soon be able to get products delivered in as little as 30 minutes.”

Earlier this week, the Co-op extended its partnership with Deliveroo for a further three years with plans to roll out the service to 110 more stores across the UK.
