Deliveroo is extending its relationship with Asda by opening a new rapid-delivery site in Tottenham Hale, north London.

Deliveroo opened its first Hop store with Morrisons last autumn

The delivery platform is looking to accelerate revenue growth from its grocery options as it struggles to recover from when it floated on the London Stock Exchange in 2021, according to Sky News.

The two retailers are set to open a Deliveroo Hop next month, which will offer over 1,300 Asda products in 15 minutes. Asda will own and manage the site while using Deliveroo’s technology and logistics network.

The pair’s core grocery partnership will also be expanded to 350 stores.

The takeaway platform has partnered with other grocers including the Co-op and Sainsbury’s as it progresses from its origins as a restaurant delivery service.

Deliveroo chief business officer for the UK and Ireland Carlo Mocci said the Hop service was its “newest innovation that gives customers a speedier service and improved product availability”.

Asda senior vice-president of ecommerce Simon Gregg said: “The trial will provide us with valuable insight into how we can look to leverage our new convenience stores to bolster our last-mile delivery options for customers.”
