Super-fast delivery start-up Getir is in advanced talks to acquire competitor Gorillas.

If the deal were to go ahead it would mark yet another step in the consolidation of super-fast delivery businesses

A deal between the two delivery rivals would include a mix of cash and equity, with plans to close by the end of November.

However, with due diligence still in its early stages, the exclusive talks may not result in a sale.

Gorillas has been seeking rescue as its losses mount – this summer the Berlin-based start-up’s chief executive Kagan Sumer said he intended to raise £700m to turn the business to profitability.

Neither Getir nor Gorillas have commented on the potential deal, as originally reported by Bloomberg.

The deal would mark another step in the consolidation of the super-fast delivery firms that all soared in popularity during the pandemic.

Previously, Getir has taken over UK start-up Weezy, Gorillas acquired the French Frichti, and Gopuff bought European-based firms Dija and Fancy.
