Currys is expanding the footprint of its headquarters to nearly triple in size as it continues to commit to its hybrid working model.

Its headquarters at the WeWork flagship on 10 York Road in Waterloo, London, will grow from 6,700 sq ft to a 18,200 sq ft workspace.

Currys said the move “underscores the growing value of flexible space for large enterprises” as it allows them to easily scale and adapt to meet new business needs.

The expansion is part of its commitment to hybrid working, as its head office staff can choose how and when they work from the office.

The model has been popular with staff, a recent survey of Currys corporate staff found that 93% said hybrid working had a positive impact on work-life balance, 92% said it has positively impacted productivity and 91% said it improved wellbeing and job satisfaction.

The retailer is now among the top 5% of companies for colleague engagement.

Currys chief people, communications and sustainability officer Paula Coughlan said: “We’re really proud of our hybrid model, which has delivered fantastic benefits for our colleagues, our customers and our business. Our colleague engagement is at record levels – helped by the flexibility offered by hybrid working.

“And our most recent financial results show that hybrid working and commercial success can flourish together. That’s why I’m delighted we’re expanding our footprint here at our WeWork HQ, which will continue to give our colleagues access to brilliant facilities, and even more space for creativity and collaboration, right in the heart of London.”
