Currys is boosting its cash-for-trash scheme so customers can receive a better reward when recycling unwanted tech.
From June 11 to July 8, Currys will give customers the chance to recycle any tech with a plug or battery wherever it was purchased to receive a £10 voucher towards a minimum £50 spend.
The initiative usually offers a £5 voucher to spend on a minimum basket size of £25.
Customers with higher-value items can access trade-in deals and receive the trade-in value or a guaranteed £10 voucher.
Currys said the scheme forms a key part of its aim to give tech a longer life. Items brought in are then either repaired, refurbished, harvested for parts, or responsibly recycled to help with the UK’s tackling of e-waste.
Currys communications and sustainability officer Paula Coughlan said: “We are thrilled to be doubling our flagship cash-for-trash offer for the first time ever. This limited-time promotion not only incentivises customers to recycle their old tech, but also helps tackle the growing e-waste crisis in the UK.
“We’re proud to be helping customers save, while making sure their unwanted tech is processed responsibly. It’s better for us, better for customers, and better for the planet to help keep tech in the hands of the people that need it for as long as possible.”
