John Lewis has announced a price lock across its “entire school uniform range” in a bid to increase its efforts to support families amid the cost-of-living crisis.

The department store has launched a new back-to-school range while “keeping prices flat on last year”, despite the rising costs of materials across the wider industry.

John Lewis also announced the expansion of its Anyday brand, offering shoppers “an even greater choice” of high-quality, budget-friendly school uniform.

John Lewis said that some of its best offers include PE shorts from £4, a pack of two polo shirts from £7 and a pack of two school dresses from £14, with adjustable waists and longer lengths also available.

The retailer said it recognises that school shoes are also “a big expense for parents” and the new back-to-school range also includes “affordable” school shoes from its Start-Rite line which are available both in-store and online, with prices starting from £36.

John Lewis children’s clothing and schoolwear buyer Cydney Ball said: “Our focus remains on providing high-quality, great-value school uniforms which are made to last. And you don’t have to take our word for it – we’ve recently been awarded ‘Best For Durability’ by MadeforMums.

“With government guidance encouraging schools to move away from branded school uniform items, we expect more customers to look to us for jumpers and blazers this year, which they can then personalise by ironing or sewing school badges on to.”
