Amazon Now will be able to make deliveries to customers within 30 minutes

The service can deliver thousands of groceries and household essentials and will be tested in select postcodes in the London borough of Southwark, with plans for further rollouts in the coming months.

Customers can shop from a wide selection of items from 35 categories on the website and Amazon app, including vitamins and supplements, milk, eggs, fresh fruit and veg, toothpaste and nappies.

Prime members can get discounted Amazon Now delivery fees starting at £1.99 per order, or for non-Prime members at £3.99. A £2 fee applies to all orders under £15, regardless of membership.

Amazon said it continues to “invest and innovate” to expand online delivery of groceries and household essentials, as there is a growing demand in this area.

In early 2025, its everyday essentials category grew almost twice as fast as all other categories. Those using Amazon Now will have access to a curated selection of this area’s most popular products.

The launch arrives after Amazon announced its commitment to invest £40bn in the UK in the next three years, set to create thousands of jobs and inspire innovation.

Amazon UK country manager John Boumphrey said: “Amazon Now brings a new level of speed and convenience to customers, delivering thousands of groceries and household essentials in less than 30 minutes.

“It’s the latest example of our commitment to faster delivery, building on the millions of items we already deliver the same or next day to customers across the UK.”
