Founded by CEO Will Shu and Greg Orlowski in 2013, Deliveroo is a UK-based rapid online delivery company that partners with restaurants, grocers and fast food outlets to manage and deliver online orders placed using an app to its customers. Orders are tracked and delivered via its network of riders and couriers in 30 minutes or less.
Originating in London, the company now has an expanding ecosystem that spans Europe, Australasia and Asia, linking national and local restaurants and food providers.
As it continues to develop its business model Deliveroo has been increasingly active in the grocery delivery space, working with retailers including Sainsbury’s and the Co-op. For its restaurant partners it has also introduced a click-and-collect option.
Amazon acquired a minority stake in the food delivery platform in May 2019.
Deliveroo has reported narrowing losses and an increase in revenue in what the group described as a “resilient year of growth” amid tough macroeconomic conditions.
