Home Bargains is boosting pay for its shopfloor staff by 4%, bringing it among some of the best-paying retailers for store workers in the UK, Retail Week can reveal.
From April, staff at the value retailer will see their pay rise to £13.00 per hour, a 50p per hour hike on the current rate.
The rise puts Home Bargains among the best-paying retailers in the UK, alongside the likes of Primark and Currys, which have each announced pay rises for shop floor staff ahead of the new financial year.
Primark announced a rise to £13 per hour for its staff earlier this month, while Currys’ staff will be paid at least £13.01 per hour from April.
Home improvement retailer B&Q is also set to increase its UK minimum hourly rate, up to £13.10 per hour, while its London rate will be boosted to £14.44 per hour.
Home Bargains employs more than 27,000 colleagues spread across more than 600 stores in the UK, and offers staff a 10% store discount as well as long service awards, death in service benefit, high street discounts, employee assistance programme and a voluntary low-cost health cash scheme.
