Thresher to cater for different incomes

Off-licence group Thresher is to test two new store-types in an attempt to ensure that it appeals to customers in a more focused way.

The 2,000-strong retailer has recently opened nine shops aimed at high-income wine buyers in London, and sees scope for rolling the scheme out to 250 stores across the country.

Now Thresher is devising store-types for the middle- and low-income customer and creating a more tailored range.

Chief operating officer John Risman said that 10 test 'middle income' stores will open, but potentially 500 of the group's stores could adopt the approach.
