Specialist retailer Go Outdoors has been giving staff body-worn cameras as part of a trial to “deter theft” and “keep colleagues safe”.

Go Outdoors said today the trial has been taking place at its store in Stoke as part of a bid to find new methods of reducing retail crime.
The trial comes after Go Outdoors recently announced a new partnership with The Retail Trust which is working to “protect the lives of retail staff” as retail crime has reached its highest level on record in the UK.
Go Outdoors said it is “committed to testing and implementing solutions that will foster a safer shopping experience” for both its employees and customers alike.
Go Outdoors store manager in Stoke Claire Cowie said the body cameras in store have been a “game-changer” for the business.
She continued: “Body cameras have been a game-changer. They’ve not only deterred theft but also increased confidence among staff ensuring they are safe when they come to work.
“The added layer of protection has been well received by our genuine customers. It’s brought a new level of trust and transparency to our store. Crucially, the business has been proactive in equipping us with these tools, enabling us to react swiftly and effectively to the concerning increase in retail crime we’ve faced.”
Go Outdoors said the trial will be used to “inform future decisions” across its store portfolio in the UK as it continues to improve safety for employees.
