Retail Property - FCUK takes new St Albans store in Christopher Place

French Connection has signed up for a new 280 sq m store in Allied London Properties' Christopher Place shopping centre in St Albans, Hertfordshire.

The store will be operated by FCUK franchisee Stuart Selwyn, brother-in-law of French Connection founder Steven Marks. Selwyn also runs FCUK branches in Windsor, Uxbridge and Watford.

Following a£3.5 million refurbishment, Christopher Place has been repositioned as a fashion centre and tenants include Next, Country Casuals, Suits You, Viyella, Bang & Olufsen and Crabtree & Evelyn, as well as restaurant units let to Carluccio's and Wagamama.

Allied London leasing director Peter Cooper said: 'The shortage of quality retail space in St Albans has enabled us to create a strong, coherent and complimentary mix of offers. We have several more deals in solicitors' hands with lettings which will further focus the fashion offer in this are of the town.'

Markham Vaughan Gillingham and Aitchison Rafferty are joint letting agents.
