Space NK’s chief commercial officer is set to depart from the beauty retailer, after spending nearly a decade in various roles at the business.

Margaret Mitchell held her role for nearly four years. She first started as head of buying in 2016, before moving to group buying director and global buying director.

More recently, she was chief merchandising officer, starting in April 2019. It is not yet known where Mitchell will go next or when she is leaving.

She is said to have played a role in helping to grow and transform the retailer, with Space NK seeing its biggest sales week ever during Black Friday last year, as sales surpassed the former record by nearly 20%.

It also saw a record performance over peak trading, as business grew 26% compared to the same period the year before.

The beauty chain also saw a change of ownership in 2025, as US powerhouse Ulta Beauty bought the retailer.

At the time, Ulta Beauty chief executive Kecia Steelman said: “We are excited to enter the UK market via the Space NK banner.

“International expansion is an integral part of our Ulta Beauty unleashed plan, and the acquisition of Space NK offers a unique and strategically compelling opportunity to enter the growing UK market with a successful and growing brand.”
