Ocado Group has appointed its first chief revenue officer as it embarks on a shake-up.

According to Sky News, the grocery technology provider is to announce the appointment of Nick de la Vega on Wednesday, tasked with driving global sales across food and non-grocery retailers.

De la Vega was previously global head of sales at tech firm Atos and will report to Ocado co-founder and chief executive Tim Steiner.

His responsibilities will include building new partnerships for the group and maintaining existing ones, and leading the group’s tech sales in pharmaceuticals and apparel and other non-food retail, which has expanded in recent years.

The group’s shares fell last month when a key retail partner in the US, Kroger, said it would take a “hard look” at future automated warehouse investments, wiping £500m off Ocado’s value in one day.

Kroger interim chief executive Ron Sargent said: “Where we have seen strong demand in high-density areas, these facilities deliver better results than those facilities where density is lower and customer adoption has been slower.

“We are taking a hard look at some of our automated facilities.”
