Casino has launched Deliveryextra.com.br, an online grocery service from its Extra hypermarkets.
The service is available at present in São Paulo and, by the end of the year, it will also be operational in Rio de Janeiro and other cities in the state of São Paulo. It is the first time a hypermarket business has set up an online grocery store in Brazil.
The service offers a range of 15,000 items, including dairy, frozen, pet and personal hygiene products. Extra has invested BRL15m (£4.6m) in the venture, which will be serviced by dedicated teams at the retailer’s distribution centres in São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro.
